My purpose for creative this piece is Artistic expression. It gives off a calm emotion. I used wavy lines to creative a sense of movement which goes along with the jazz theme. In the piece I used only organic shapes. This gives a sense of freedom rather than the straight edge feeling you get from geometric shapes. Cool colors give off a calming sense, so I used mostly cool and neutral colors. I needed the three panels to be unified, that’s where I used color and the use of organic shapes seeping into each panel. I wanted the viewer’s eye to be caught on the center panel and then diffuse out from there. I put a lot of emphasis on the middle women to achieve that. Jazz is a very smooth, cool kind of music. I wanted to show how free flowing it is, so movement helped show that. The background has a lot of movement achieved by the lines and shapes.
